Ingredients:
1 part Merlot Syrup
3 parts rye bourbon
dash of bitters
squeeze of fresh orange juice
orange wedge or orange peel twist.
Merlot Syrup:
In a small sauce pan, reduce 375 ml of MacLeod Merlot by 1/2.
Dissove from 2 tsp to 1 Tbl sugar while still warm (don't make it too sweet)
Cool and refrigerate for up to one month.
Directions:
Mix all ingredients in a cocktail shaker.
Add ice and shake aggressively to break off small ice shards or splinters.
Pour into martini glass.
Garnish glass with orange wedge or drink with orange peel twist.
Can be served over ice.
