We're lucky to have Clay, Heide, and Mike on board to make this dream a delicious reality.
Perhaps one day the grandkids will rally their resources to build a family winery to match our family vineyard. But until then, we are quite content to avail ourselves of the abundant cellar resources and talent in our area. Hats off to our winemaking team for their help, expertise and patience!
Clay Mauritson is winemaker and manager of Mauritson Family Winery in Healdsburg. A graduate of the University of Oregon, he has 10 years experience and six family generations in the grape wine industry. His winemaking philosophy is simple: "You need exceptional fruit to make exceptional wine."
Heide Von Der Mehden is assistant winemaker. A graduate of Santa Clara University, her background includes five years at Kenwood Winery plus cellar experience at Babich Winery in New Zealand.
Michael Lee is our friend and wine consultant extraordinaire. A 30 year veteran of the wine industry, he is one of the founders and former winemaker of Kenwood Winery. Mike is widely respected for his skill in developing and crafting great Sauvignon Blancs and has worked with our fruit for 25 years.

Mike Lee, Consulting Winemaker, has this to say:
"I really enjoyed my role this year as Consulting Winemaker for this great Sauvignon Blanc. When I was the winemaker at Kenwood Winery we used the MacLeod Sauvignon Blanc grapes for 25 consecutive harvests. The grapes from the rocky hillside terrain at their vineyard always produces wines with great flavors and aromas. I used their grapes in our Reserve program since its beginning. I was really pleased to see the MacLeod Family branch out and begin making their own wine from these wonderful grapes."
